Associate

Immediate opening for an Associate Attorney (3-5 Years Experience) to join our growing national immigration practice. Salary, dependent upon experience, is 100k-125k + benefits/bonus. We have openings in both our Suffolk and Nassau Offices.

We are a 15-attorney immigration-only law firm which is driven by our mission to help the predominantly Central American communities we serve. We accomplish this by providing competent, honest and reasonably-priced services in an effort to assist our clients in procuring or enhancing immigration benefits, avoiding negative enforcement consequences, helping reunite families and applying for difficult humanitarian relief such as Asylum in order to avoid persecution in home countries.

This positions require: 1) admission to the bar of any US state of territory (with a high preference on NY at a minimum); 2) a strong desire for public service, particularly in the areas described above and; 3) fluency in both Spanish and English (at a minimum, although knowledge of other languages preferred). Immigration litigation experience particularly in Asylum and family-based cases is required. Knowledge of the legal and procedural requirements for benefits such as Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, LPR Waivers, Waivers of Inadmissibility, TPS, NACARA, Consular Processing, and Naturalization would inform the interested party in further pursuing employment in this position. The successful candidate would have the ability to multi-task within a high-volume practice, apprehend complex statutory and caselaw-driven concepts quickly and be enticed by litigating removal/deportation defense cases before the Immigration Courts, Board of Immigration Appeals and US Circuit Courts. There is opportunity for significant upward mobility with our growing firm, but for the first 12 months, a candidate should not expect any change in work/compensation status. This job is open for immediate hire.

The successful candidate for the above position has a genuine passion for protecting the rights of foreign-born individuals in the United States, and a deep interest in making a long-term commitment to our well-respected and rapidly growing practice. S/he is an absolute team player with a demonstrated record of achievement; genuinely enjoys working with people and is committed to excellent client service; is well organized and self-motivated; possesses excellent written and spoken communication skills; is fluent in technology, particularly the Microsoft Office suite; and able to successfully manage an independent caseload. Candidates currently residing outside of the United States will not be considered.
